Tentatively titled Macross The First in recently revealed Macross Ace mag

Update: Famed character designer and manga creator Haruhiko Mikimoto (Macross, Gundam 0080, Aim for the Top! Gunbuster) will be drawing the tentatively titled manga The Super Dimension Fortress Macross the First in the recently revealed Macross Ace magazine from Kadokawa Shoten. The January issue (on sale on November 26) of Kadokawa's Monthly Shonen Ace magazine will make the announcement. Vol. 001 of Macross Ace will debut on January 26, 2009 with 80 pages from Mikimoto's new manga. The manga will feature the star of the original Macross space war romance story that Mikimoto co-created, Lynn Minmay.

The magazine will also feature a tentatively titled Macross Frontier: Secret Visions story from Hiroyuki Yoshino, the series script supervisor for Macross Frontier. Macross Frontier is the recent 25th anniversary television series that helped bring about a resurgence in this science-fiction franchise's popularity. Monthly Shonen Ace's Hayato Aoki (Macross Frontier manga), Monthly Comp Ace's Sorahiko Mizushima (Macross Frontier: Dakishimete, Ginga no Hate made manga) and the Sneaker Bunko imprint's Ukyō Kodachi (Macross Frontier novels) will appear in the magazine.

Kadokawa already publishes Gundam Ace, a monthly manga magazine devoted to Sunrise's Gundam robot war franchise. Shogakukan and We've, Inc. have been releasing Macross Chronicle, a biweekly reference publication devoted to the Macross franchise, since July. Mikimoto drew the original character designs for the ongoing anime version of Yoshiki Tanaka's Tytania space opera novels. He was slated to work on the Appleseed: Genesis television anime series before it was cancelled earlier this year.

Update: According to Kadokawa's advertisement solicitation sheet, Macross Ace will have new gag comedy manga and manga based on new stories. It will also have information on the anime, DVDs, games, and toys, as well as columns by noted figures. The magazine will be positioned as a quarterly spinoff from Gundam Ace, and Kadokawa expects to publish 100,000 copies of the first 256-page issue for 560 yen each.

Palladium Books Press Release

First, the bad news:

Robotech®: The Masters Saga™ Sourcebook – December or January Release. Please don’t groan. This book is going to be epic. All new art and a ton of new, never-before-seen material – new mecha, new power armor, new weapons, new gear, new data and all the rest that you know and love. Epicness takes time and dedication. After a production meeting between Jason Marker and Kevin Siembieda, and after talking with the four main artists, we do not think we can get the Masters Saga out before Christmas. At least not without rushing the art and writing, and this is one book we do NOT want to rush. We are still shooting to get it done as fast as possible. In fact, we are still shooting for a December release, but it seems unlikely. We’ll see. Fear not, you will love this sourcebook.

And no sign of the cover art for the Masters Saga sourcebook yet. :(

And now, the good news:

Coming in 2009: Mysteries of Magic™ (Palladium Fantasy), Shemarrian Nation™, a Dead Reign™ sourcebook, Dimensional Outbreak™, Heroes of the Megaverse®, Armageddon Unlimited™, Megaverse® in Flames, Fleets of the Three Galaxies™, a Nightbane® sourcebook, Triax™ 2, Warpath™: Urban Jungle™ RPG (we hope, in time for the Palladium Open House!!), Robotech®: New Generation sourcebook, and a heck of a lot more. You ain’t seen nothing yet. If this economic downturn doesn’t crush Palladium’s sales (and so far it has not), we have one amazing book after another planned for you. Best of all, 80% of the titles listed above are already written and awaiting final editing, rewrites and production.

That's right, folks. Palladium's working on a revised New Generation sourcebook. 2009's gonna be a great year. :D

Michael Bradley Unplugged

As reported by CaptainJLS, Michael Bradley's all-acoustic album, Lonely Soldier Boy II, will be out on Dec. 1st, 2008.

This is wonderful news for this Robotech fan who's birthday (Dec. 6th) will follow the album's release. I'm sure that I will order both the original album and the acoustic sequel in the future.
